A census taken in 1891 is the first record we have of Duncan living in Aberfeldy. The previous census taken in 1881 had him living in Weem, a small village near Aberfeldy. Duncan died in Aberfeldy in 1898 and was said to have been failing in the later years. Son James is believed to have been the principle maker during the years just prior to Duncan's death.

The MacDougall bagpipe below has silver hallmarked 1894 and would have been made in Aberfeldy. The silver is exceptional.
Duncan MacDougall - Breadalbane 1873 - 1887
The pictures below are courtesy of good friend Jim McGillivray. Jim finds some of the most remarkable old pipes. Dunbar does all his repair and restoration work. They also make a number of "reproduction" bagpipes for Jim. I've known Jim since 1972 and the good folks at Dunbar Bagpipe for almost as long.
The bagpipe below is stamped MacDougall Breadalbane however I don't have any further information on it. The picture is associated however I've lost whatever information I originally had.
