Robertson, James – Late 1930’s to early 1950’s

James Robertson was still very active in the shop. James Martin would have taken over as show foreman sometime during these years as Robertson died in 1948. His brother, Hugh Robertson, maintained ownership however it is not known whether or not he was active within the shop. During these years the bagpipe lost its severe angles. Tuning chambers became more straight-sided. They eventually lost the center scribe lines on ferrules.

These Robertson bagpipes may have ferrules with center scribe lines or traditional scribe lines (two and one at opposite ends). We can also find a mix on some bagpipes which cause us to wonder if all are original or perhaps some were lost and replaced.
