The bagpipe below was said to have been played by Lance-Corporal Piper Patrick Milne of 1st Battalion, Gordon Highlanders at the storming of the Heights of Dargai in India in 1897. Pipers apparently played within range and in the open as to inspire the troops. Milne was wounded in the chest and later received the Distinguished Conduct Medal from Queen Victoria.

This bagpipe came up at auction in Scotland in 2021. It looks to be the work of J&R Glen. Parallels can be drawn, from what we can see, between this bagpipe and Milne’s bagpipe. Sadly, I failed to secure more pictures and information regarding this bagpipe.
