Unknown #56

Unknown #56Let’s see what we can learn about this bagpipe. The silversmith was William Neal & George Arthur Neal trading as W & G Neal (registered Jul 1883), Skinner Street, Clerkenwell, operating in London 1887..1908. The silver was tested in London and hallmarked for purity in 1904. Tuning chambers are sleeved and keyed. Very nicely made from what I can see.

I’ve only seen a couple bagpipes with silver by the Neals. You can find images of a Henderson with silver by WN and GN hallmarked 1906 in the Henderson exhibit.

Full silver sets are very difficult to ID. I see hints of J&R Glen however not enough to say this with certainty.
